Before we know it, kids will be back to school and we will all be back in our regular routines. Check out the following activities for some suggestions on how to enjoy the rest of the lazy, hazy days of summer. What are some of your favorites summer activities? I’d love to find out in the comments.
1). Go to the drive-in theater
In Wichita, we’re lucky enough to still have the Starlite Drive-In in town. If you find yourself somewhere with one of these special theaters, go ahead and enjoy a movie with your family or friends.
2). Have an indoor “picnic”
Summer days can be too hot to handle, so lay a blanket down in your own home, open a bottle of wine and enjoy small sandwiches or a spread of hors d’ouevres.
3). Visit the animals at the zoo
4). Visit a local museum
Keep cool and spend the day at an indoor museum.
5). Grill out
Summer is the perfect time for a juicy hamburger. Experiment with out-of-the-box recipes, such as this burger with green tomato mayonnaise. See the recipe here.
6). Have a lemonade stand
What screams summer more than a glass of ice cold lemonade?
7). Visit the farmers market
What’s better than fresh, local produce? Yum!
8). Go stargazing
An inexpensive way to take a mini-escape from the hustle and bustle of every day life.
9). Build a blanket fort
An easy alternative to outdoor camping.
10). Make homemade ice cream
In my opinion, one of the best ways to beat the heat is with a cold bowl of ice cream. Try this strawberry basil recipe, or make classic vanilla. There are so many great recipes out there!
Have some other suggestions to include? Add them in the comments, and be sure to stay tuned next Wednesday for some yummy grilling recipes.
