5 Healthy Things it’s Never Too Late to Start Doing

It’s time to get serious about your health. Particularly if you’re a Boomer like I am, there’s no time like the present to take charge of ensuring you feel better, live longer and have overall better quality of life as you age.

Don’t worry, I’m not going to get preachy with you. Well, at least I don’t intend to.

But we both know that if you don’t have your health, it makes life less joyous on so many levels – that’s why this is so important and a real passion of mine.

Still, let’s not even go into all of that right now. What I want to do is encourage you. So I made a little list. Why not get started this weekend? 😉

Here are my top 5 healthy things it’s NEVER too late to start doing:

1. It’s never too late to start exercising – even just a little. How about walking 3 times a week (or once a day), watching the sunset or rising early and talking to our partners (or fur babies)? If you don’t have a ton of energy at first, just do what you can. But get out there and do SOMETHING!

2. It’s never too late to start eating at home, instead of the “convenience” of going out. Keep it simple – buy healthy foods and make a habit of eating them at home. Don’t stress yourself out with trying to pull together an elaborate meal. Simple can be (and most times IS) just as delicious, as you can see throughout the BoomerSmarts Cooking section of my blog here.

3. It’s never too late to start eating your greens. You may be hooked on nutritionless junk, just like a large portion of the American population is. But the truth is our taste buds change and adapt. Start eating your veggies and before you know it, your body will be craving the live-giving nutrition they provide.

4. It’s never too late to start a new endeavor. If you retire (or even stay in the same old job rut for years on end), things can get stale fast. If you look around and feel like you’re aging with the whole world zooming by but things aren’t getting better for you (maybe even getting worse), it can get depressing really fast. So try something new – shake up the old routine. You won’t regret it.

5. It’s never too late to start making time for yourself. This one is huge enough that I’m positive you’ve heard me say it before. Take care of YOU before giving to others. The quality AND quantity of what you have to offer will benefit greatly from taking care of you.
